Application (I)

Multi-layers
Sometimes, one design can be separated to two parts for
simplifying the operation. For example in LCD light guide plate, LED light source
area can be separated and defined the density profile independently. Or you may
have many ideas for one product, but it is high cost to make true for each idea.
BacklightFly can make your all ideas true in one design file. Below, we
used the simple case to guide you how to set up a multi-layer design.
You will define the size when you create a new design. Then,
BacklighFly will create a layer, named as main, automatically, and the size is
same with the new design you created. You can modify the style of main layer in
properties window directly, including re-sizing, re-naming, and re-locating.
1. Create new design
2. Modify the style of main layer
Click "New design", select "New layer", and you can set up a
new layer. Eventually, a design with multi-layer is created. The modification of
each layer is independent.
On the borderline between layers, you may find the sharp
density change. That can be improved by select right composite mode.
Example 1 : DOE
for comparison between different density profile
If more than one density profile can be combined in one
design file, that will help you to save cost in the preliminary DOE stage. Only
one output is made as product, but you can get all required information.
Below figure shows you that two density profiles were output in one light guide
plate, and that can help you to choose the better one.
Example 2 : design
LED light source area independently
The density profile on LED source area is much complex than
other region. Separating LED source area can simplify the design procedure.
Create two layers: one for main area and one for LED source area.
For main area, you can use the simplest design line to create
the density profile. For LED source area, you just need to re-locate the design
lines to match LED positions and you can adjust for each LED site. The
adjustment for LED source area will not affect the density profile on main area.
